Chisel Tool Tip

One way to increase the chisel life is to keep the tool cool. The chisel will wear faster if it gets hot as this will make the tool softer and more susceptible to wearing. When the tool is hot it will not work as well so jobs may take longer. The ingredients to increase your chisel life are the following: the operator should have 2-3 extra chisels, use a quick change retainer and have a container of water nearby.

When a chisel in the air tool gets hot it should be swapped with a cool chisel from the water container. Place the hot chisel in the water container. The key will be to keep a cooler chisel running so keep switching them out when they get too hot. A quick change retainer will make the exchange of chisels go quick. A cooler, harder chisel will work better, move through material quicker and provide less resistance to the operator and the air tool. Everyone and everything works better with a cool chisel.
